ECI President Meets ECO Secretary General
News  - President of ECO Cultural Institute, Dr. Mohammad Mehdi Mazaheri, met with the Secretary General of the Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO), Halil Ibrahim Akça, on Sunday 23 October 2016 and discussed various possibilities of enhancing mutual cooperation.

During the meeting, Dr. Mohammad Mehdi Mazaheri enumerated different aspects of future cooperation and said: "The ECO region has huge potential in terms of culture and civilization which should be introduced to the world. In this regard, ECO Cultural Institute has a mission to fulfill which is establishing vast communications with other relevant international organizations such as UNESCO. "

Emphasizing the need for all Member States to participate in the activities of ECO Cultural Institute, he called for support and assistance on part of the ECO Secretariat to encourage other countries to join the ECO Cultural Institute as full members.

President of ECO Cultural Institute also stressed the need to strengthen cooperation and exchange experiences between ECO Cultural Institute, ECO Science Foundation and ECO Educational Institute as three specialized agencies of ECO and remarked: "Such activities are managed globally by UNESCO. But in the ECO region, the three institutions can create fruitful and valuable cooperation."

ECO Secretary General also congratulated Dr. Mazaheri on his new assignment as the ECI president and expressed readiness to cooperate in the fields as discussed and asserted that: "ECI has so far implemented cultural programs among them are the comprehensive ECO Tourist guide book, diverse cultural periodicals and fine artistic events".

He also referred to the upcoming ECO Regional Planning Council (RPC), and expressed hope that the results of the summit would provide the ground for the institute to attain its predetermined objectives, including the full accession of other countries, especially Turkey, to ECO Cultural Institute.

Dr. Mazaheri also recognized the importance of the meeting and stated that ECI is prepared to hold a cultural and artistic program for the delegations participating in the meeting.
